Weather:

Fine and sunny day Monday, reaching 160. Morning showers Tuesday, becoming cold. This set the pattern for the week. If it wasn't raining, it was overcast and cold. (Back to the old-style winters). 5.5 mms (22 pts) Tuesday, 5.5 mms (22 pts) Thursday, heavy fog Friday night. 18.5 mms (74 pts) to Sunday evening. Total rainfall for the week was a glorious 29.5 mms (118 pts).

Congratulations:

Best wishes to Martine Antonis and Rob (NT), who will marry this Saturday, 25 July, then reside in Spain. Martine is the daughter of Kris and Albie Antonis of Dip Lane.

Euchre:

Week 1, 18 July - 15 players. Winners: ladies - Pam Vaughan, after a cut-off with Margaret Broughan; men - Neville Ramage. Consolation prizes: ladies - Debbie Mann, men - Barney Allen. Lucky door - Bev Adams, Competition - Barney Allan.

In last week's Gazette, the men's aggregate was overlooked. Sorry, fellas! 1 - Gordon Broughton, 2. Barney Allen, 3. Allan Moore.

Honor roll:

An Honor Roll meeting was held on Thursday evening. It was disappointing that only four people attended. To do justice to the Honor Roll and remember those local people who served their country in WWII, the committee plans to hold a dedication and unveiling at a “Return to Balmattum”. Families of those listed (see article in this week's issue) will be invited, also local and former residents of the district.

Next meeting will be held at the Hall on Thursday, 31 July. Please show your support.

Fire Truck Roster:

Sunday, 27 July: 1 Andrew Gall, 2 Tim Johnson.
