Last Sunday, 13 July, was the special Ford McKernan Engineering day at the Violet Town Golf Club. Not a big roll-up; however, those who did attend had a great day.

Steve himself played very well to accumulate 37 points to be runner-up from Linda Combrink, who scored a very good 39 points, to win the day. Linda played great golf and her putting was deadly nearly all day.

A great open fire and an excellent barbecue followed the day's golf. Vice president Albie Combrink welcomed, along with captain Tony Kingma, all to the club and thanked Steve McKernan for his very generous sponsorship. Steve said he was pleased to be involved had enjoyed the golf and the company, and donated his runners-up trophy back to the next-in-line, typical generosity of Steve. Keith Seeber scored 2 nearest the pins and a drive and pitch and Rod Saxon a nearest the pin. Euroa boys did well.

The course is in A1 condition, even after the rains during the week, captain Tony doing a great job mowing the fairways, and Albie Combrink the sand scrapes. Thanks to John Crilly and Albie and co for the excellent barbecue also.

Next Sunday is the third round of the Club Championships, monthly medal and incorporating the Colbine Cup. The Championships are closely contested and very close in all grades. 27 July is the day for the first round of the Tony Kingma trophy, another event to look forward to. As there was a barbecue lst Sunday, there will not be one next Sunday.
