Strathbogie Shire Council is pleased to invite advertising contributions in the first shire-wide Official Visitors Guide (OVG) for the Strathbogie Shire.

This quality publication will showcase our region to visitors, providing information on our many tourist attractions, natural landscapes, restaurants and eateries, wineries and cellar doors, accommodation, retail shopping precincts and events.

The Official Visitors Guide is as much a marketing vehicle for our local businesses, as it is an information brochure for the travelling public. The OVG will be designed in such a manner, as to create demand for our tourism product and services, and therefore have a real return-on-investment for advertisers. It is intended that the OVG will persuade visitors to choose our destination over competitor destinations, and that those visitors will become customers of our local businesses, and generate income for our local tourism industry.

The OVG will be a professionally designed, A5 sized glossy brochure that will be in a format this is easily recognisable to visitors, as it will carry the Tourism Victoria “jigsaw” branding. It is anticipated that 20,000 copies of the OVG will initially be printed and widely distributed across the network of accredited Visitor Information Centres, as well as through local tourism businesses and outlets.

Mayor of Strathbogie Shire Council, Robyn Machin said, “In determining appropriate advertising rates, Council undertook a comparative analysis of 10 other regions that also produce an OVG. Based on the results of that benchmarking exercise, advertising rates were determined which are significantly lower than the majority of other regions. Furthermore, we are offering a 10% discount to businesses who are members of our Local Tourism Associations.”
