A whole world of cars is coming to the 2006 Motor Show, with Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche, Maybach, Pagani and Ferrari just some of the marques showing off their latest vehicles. Enter our competition now to win a free ticket!

For 2006 the Show runs three weeks earlier than usual, to fit in with the Commonwealth Games, and opens at 5 pm on Thursday 9 February. In addition to the finest exotic cars, there will be plenty of affordable offerings from Australia, Asia and Europe, along with a steadily increasing American presence.

Special show stars include a car that can sense a driver’s emotions and a locally built 320 km/h supercar. The Rinspeed Senso measures a variety of physiological parameters and then uses patterns, colors, music and fragrances in a bid to make the driver more relaxed and alert.

By contrast, the Redback Spyder is one man’s tribute to pure old-fashioned performance, all locally designed and built by former motorcycle racing champion Nick Tomkinson and his team, and wrapped in a high-tech carbon fibre body.

As a special treat for romantics, Valentine’s Day at the Motor Show will be a special occasion with fashion parades, give-aways and all sorts of little luxuries, even a wedding.

For sheer excitement, the star of the 2005 motor show is back again - Russ Swift and the Peugeot Precision Driving Team will show that a car really can drive on two wheels under complete control.

The ever-popular 4WD track will be back again, as will the Shannons Melbourne International Motor Show Auction of classic and collectable cars and memorabilia.

Melbourne International Motor Show runs from Thursday 9 February to Sunday 19 February at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre, and is organised and promoted by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce through its dealer division the Australian Automobile Dealers Association (Vic).
