The better weather brought 19 golfers out for a stroke/medal round on Wednesday, 7 October. The ground surface is drying out a bit and there is a lot more run on the course now but the greens are a bit tricky, having just been cored.
The winner in Division 1 was Patsy Ryan 90.21.69 and the runner-up was Joyce White 100.28.72. Division 2 winner and monthly medallist was Olga Hill 113.45.68 and the runner-up was Barb Ramage 110.31.79. Joyce White won the B Grade gross with 100 and Patsy Ryan won the putting with 28.
Nearest the pin winners were Kae Lummas on the 8th, Linda Combrink on the 12th and Patsy Ryan on the 18th. Drive and Pitch winners were Patsy Ryan ono the 5th and Jenny Thompson on the 15th.
Saturday, 10 October: despite the beautiful weather and perfect golfing conditions, only 9 ladies took part in a stroke round, just enough for 1 division. The winner was Freda Edwards with a lovely nett 65. Runner-up was Mavis Brierley with nett 72. Mavis also won the drive and pitch on the 15th.
The golfing calendar is very busy at the moment; Monday evening at 7.30 pm is the ladies' AGM, and the club AGM is on the following Monday evening at 7.30 pm. Next Wednesday, 14 October, is gala and the game is split 6s stableford. The seniors' tournament is on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20, no ladies' comp in Euroa on the 21, but the Strathbogie/Euroa challenge is at Euroa on Sunday 28. The BP Melbourne Cup day is on Tuesday, 3 November.
Next Saturday, 17 October is "Jay Day", a stableford round and a midday shotgun hit-off. Come early and bring your cheque book, as the auction of the marvellous Callaway items will take place before hit-off. All proceeds from the auction will go to help finance Jay's treatment and recovery, with thanks to Drummonds of Shepparton for their support. Freda is the manager that day and Dot Rule and May Hamilton are hostesses.
Wednesday, 21 October is the end-of-season trip away. The ladies will be going to Belvoir Park Golf Club in Bendigo to play an Irish 3-ball stableford, which should be a lot of fun.
Be at the clubhouse early, as departure time is 7.45 am. There will be a prize of the day and special prizes.
