Summer ball sports began their season all over the Shire of Strathbogie at the weekend in a blaze of sunshine.

Bowlers, batters, tennis and croquet players are now well into their pennant competitions, and white is the order of the day for many, as the best reflector of harmful ultraviolet rays out in the field.

Sunglasses, sunscreen and hats - those all-important hot-weather accessories - were slipped, slopped and slapped on by players all over the Shire as they settled down to enjoying their favourite sports, hopefully well protected against the glare.
