The Ladies Annual General Meeting was held on Monday night and the following office bearers were elected: President – Gwenda Sloper. Vice President – Pam Pedder. Junior Vice President – Jan McKay. Secretary – Caryl Wyllie. Captain – Lyn Carracher. Vice Captain – Anne Burns. Handicapper – Marlene Hull. Assistant Handicapper – Yvonne Sloper.
Twenty ladies attended a most enjoyable dinner at Rusty Springs on Tuesday night, where presentation of minor awards for the year took place. Caryl Wyllie has had a wonderful year’s golf, and received the Captain’s trophy for the 3 best net scores over the Championships. Jan McKay has also had a great year and she won the trophy for the most 2’s and 3’s. Lyn Carracher won the White Putting trophy, and also the most birdies, and finally, Joan Shelton was the recipient of the trophy for the most Gobblers.
Now for last week’s results: Tuesday saw a small but enthusiastic group of players take to the fairways. The winner was Dee Wright with yet another good score of +3. Dee also won the ball comp and Lauris Truscott took out Nearest the Pin on the 18th.
Saturday was the last day of 18 hole competition for the season and ten ladies and 1 gent contested a stableford competition. Novice Office officials - Michelle Thomson and Jenny Wheeler - gave a very entertaining presentation with some rather interesting novelty prizes, some of which required the winners to reveal certain items of underwear, but we’ll leave it at that! The winner for the day was Joan Shelton with the excellent score of 39 points. Hot on her heels and runner up was Anne Burns with 38 points. Nearest the pins went to Joan Shelton on the 5th, and 14th and Jenny Wheeler on the 18th, and Lyn Carracher took out 2nd shot on the 8th.
Congratulations go to Lance and Lyn Carracher, who won the scratch at Kialla on Sunday, on a count back from fellow club members, Kerry Peterson and John Pilkington. Playing together, both pairs shot one under 71 - an excellent score, and it was a pity only one could win! Kerry and John missed out on winning the prestigious Bill Hanlon Memorial Trophy by 1 ¼ shots. Congratulations to both pairs on a great score.
Only one reminder is due this week - tonight’s Annual General Meeting at the Club House at 7.30 pm. Would all members please make every effort to attend.
