Two hard-fought games on Saturday saw Division 2 go down to Murchison by 11 shots and Division 5 defeated Dookie by a solid 28 shots.
Again Nagambie scraped the bottom of the barrel to field two teams, but things are on the improve with the return of Frank Williamson and brand-new member-in-waiting John Humphries and perhaps big Frank will be added to the ranks.
At Murchison, Greg Brack lost by a solitary shot in a see-saw battle, Des Fothergill won by the barest margin, coming from the clouds to win 9 consecutive ends in the middle stages. Les Hannam played a draw after being headed for the first time at 24 ends, while Robert Page went down by eleven shots due mainly to a nasty five last ends.
Division 5 opened their account with a strong win at home against Dookie. Evelyn Donders, after a slow start, stormed home to win by 14 shots, Margaret Page played catch up bowls to level at 21 ends but finished 5 down, and in the most stunning revival since Lazarus, Keith Hollands produced an 84-shot turn-around from last week to win by 39 shots, claiming the incredible last 14 ends.
The first round of the 100-Up handicap was played on Sunday, winners being Max Fothergill, Glen Weatherell, Chris Spencer and Jack Spencer (fine effort from an 11-year-old).
Ticket sales and table allocations are almost complete for the monster dinner-dance and Auction on Saturday Night. Still a chance for a few stragglers to get into the action.
