Nagambie B grade began the 2009/10 season with a 76-run win over Royals at the Nagambie Recreation Reserve.

Nagambie’s captain, Mark Berens won the toss and elected to bat. Openers, Tristen Murray and Michael Sloan had a solid 27 run stand which ended when Sloan chopped Sutherland onto his stumps after he bad 6 runs against his name. Mark Nolan replaced Sloan and added 53 before Murray was caught by D. Short in Earl’s first over with the score on 80 in the 20th over. Mark Berens joined Nolan at the crease and the pair added 48 before Nolan was bowled by Watson after he had scored 40. Josh Sanderson was the next batsman and he added 26 with Berens before Berens was bowled by S. Lewin for 36. Sanderson was caught by Fletcher for 10 and Tyrone Muir caught by D. Short for 1 before Simon Van Duinen and Pat Ratray had an unbeaten stand of 48 before the competition’s closure with Nagambie at 6/204. Watson was the most successful of Royals bowlers with 3/30 from his 9 overs.

Royals began their run chase slowly with openers Murphy and J. Lewin having an opening stand of 56 before Lewin was caught by Josh Sanderson off Pat Ratray’s bowling. Murphy and S. Lewin added another 13 before Murphy was caught by Mark Nolan, giving Pat Ratray a second wicket. Sutherland was back in the pavilion one run later after being caught by Harley Taylor-Lloyd off Michael Sloan’s bowling when the score was 70. Lewin and D. Short added 26 before Short was bowled by Josh Sanderson for 13. Lewin was lbw to Tristen Murray for 17. G. Short and Earl added 17 before Earl was caught by Michael Sloan, becoming Murray’s second wicket. Wilson was caught by Harley Taylor-Lloyd off Mark Berens’ bowling without score with the score on 116. Short was caught by Tyrone Muir in Tristen Murray’s fifth over. Seven runs later Pipe was caught by wicket-keeper, Simon Van Duinen on the third ball of Harley Taylor-Lloyd’s first over before Watson and Fletcher saw out the over to see Royals 9/128. Tristen Murray 3/11 and Pat Ratray 2/27 had the best bowling figures for Nagambie.
