Cameron Roper wins first twilight event

84 men competed in events over Wednesday, Friday and Saturday last week, in great weather for golf. The first twilight event for the year was held last Friday night and saw Cameron Roper win with 22 pts.

A semi-final of the Ian Lewis family trophy was played between Gary Dillon and Grant Steers last Wednesday, Grant coming up the winner by defeating Gary 2 up. One more semi before the final yet to be completed.

The greens have been cored, sanded and also fertilised, ensuring the ongoing excellent conditions of some thanks to JD & Co who worked very hard at this project.

Don't forget the Jay Dowell Day at the Club next Saturday, 17 October with 12 noon assembly, 12.30 tee-off time. Prior to that there will be an auction of a Callaway golf bag and buggy, putter etc, to add to funds the club hopes to raise in support of Jay and his family, a very generous donation from Callaway Golf Co through the support of Drummonds Golf, Shepparton. Also trackside at the Gee Gees at 7 pm. Buy a horse, name it and hopefully watch it win. Golf-wise this will be a stableford event, let's hope for a fine day and excellent roll-up.

Next Veterans' event is at Broadford on Wednesday, 11 November.
