The Strathbogie Golf Club will run a Community Barbecue on Saturday 7 June from 5.30pm (the barbecuewill be preceded by the usual round of golf, at which anyone is also welcome). This will give locals and new people to the Tableland a chance to meet each other. The only requirement is to contact Helen Hill on 5790 5320, so that meat can be ordered. The meat will be sold at cost price and if possible bring a salad to share. The club hopes to see as many people there as possible and if successful the golf club will run this event regularly.

Local history group:
Last Wednesday the local history group - Alan and Ann Simpson, Max Allen, Alan Moore and Trevor Delahey - were very busy, putting up specially designed signs at all the old school sites and two signs at the front the current Strathbogie school. The group received a substantial grant for these signs. You can now see the signs quite clearly from the road in many parts of the Tableland. Congratulations to this group on persevering with this project. There was quite a bit of research involved to locate correct details about these old schools and their sites.

Strathbogie Campus: This week our student of the week is Malachi Wild, who has shown particular enthusiasm with his writing. Congratulations Malachi. Next Friday Brooke and Tom McIntosh will be celebrating their 8th birthdays. We hope that they both have a great day. We would like to extend a special thank you to Brooke's and Tom's dad, Craig McIntosh, who built and attached a pedestrian gate at the front of the school.
The Goods & Services Auction is now in the final planning stages. Thank you to anyone who has made a contribution to this event and has already organised a table. This money will go towards the many ongoing costs that occur at school with the main one being a major excursion to Melbourne in Term 4 for all children, and hopefully at no cost, some money to go towards the production of our school play (ie costumes, sets and props) and to provide further funds to implement our new garden design. We appreciate any help we can get but we also understand if this proves a difficulty to anyone.
Welcome to Meg Ellis and her mum Deb. We hope that Meg enjoys her time with us.
This week Lucy Moore, Brioude Synnot, Harry Shenton and Travers Delahey are heading to the Zone Cross Country in Wangaratta. We wish them well.
Also this week, Felix Arnold and Johnno Townsend are attending a four-day camp at Dromkeen, Riddles Creek. At this camp they will be working with a book illustrator and writing and illustrating a book of their own. I am sure that they will come back very enthusiastic about their experiences.
The JSC Soup Day was a great success (see Page 4 of this newspaper). Three teams of children worked with parents to make the extras and all agreed that everything was very yummy! Most children are now wondering when the next soup day will be.
The disco was a great success - more details next week.
